Barangay official

I am Jonathan N. Villena, 35 years old from Baguio City. I am currently elected as a Barangay Kagawad and I was a former Barangay Treasurer. I am the Public Relations Office of the Association of Barangay Kagawads in Baguio City and the previous President  of the Association of Barangay Treasurers.I graduated last April 2012 from the University of the Philippines, Open University with Diploma in Computer Science.

Although most elected Barangay official possess adequate qualifications; authorities should also have regular training programs like seminars, workshops and academic trainings like this Masters's Degree in Public Management. I think that officials will have better comprehension about their responsibilities and accountability based on the Local Government Code and other aspects of Good Governance.Barangay official is a small position for some, it is still very significant. A barangay official is not a high-salaried position, the real essence  of a Barangay official is PUBLIC SERVICE…SERVE THE PEOPLE.Some say why did you chose being a Barangay Official you are a Collage a Graduate and obtained a Post Graduate degree. 

The answer is I want to serve the people in my own way.  (“Scholar ng Bayan". By serving my small community effectively)
